SPEED & PERFORMANCE PROFILE
Optimized Power Delivery:
The 2020 RZR Pro XP Premium is engineered for real-world off-road conditions, with Polaris tuning the 181-horsepower engine to work best in the 20–50 mph range . For the vast majority of riders and off-road conditions, this is where you’ll feel the performance most. When you plant your foot down hard on the acceleration pedal, the power pulls you back into your seat and things start getting a little blurry—the feeling is exhilarating .
181 HP ProStar Turbocharged Engine:
The Pro XP series features an updated ProStar, turbocharged, 925cc, parallel twin-cylinder DOHC engine producing 181 horsepower—a significant jump from the previous 168 hp . Engine highlights include:
- Larger water-cooled turbo with improved heat dissipation and cooling
- Purge valve system prevents boil-over after hard running
- High-output 900-Watt charging system with Polaris Pulse for seamless accessory connection
- Transmission strengthened by 39% to handle the increased horsepower
Transmission & Driveline:
The CVT has been redesigned with increased ventilation to run much cooler, aiding belt performance and lifespan . Features include:
- High and low forward gear, neutral, park, and reverse
- Roller pucks in the primary clutch rather than metal sliders
- Axles claimed to be 8 times stronger than previous models
- Front differential proven from the RS1 and RZR XP Turbo S line
Driving Dynamics:
Across whoops, jumps, rocks, and sand washes, cornering and general stability are impressive . The lower center of gravity and lower seating let you feel comfortable during hard cornering, keeping the inside wheels planted. The triple-bore front brakes and dual-bore rears are strong and don’t fade . When the going gets slow with tricky traction, the longer wheelbase provides excellent control .

THE DRIVE EXPERIENCE
Professional testers from Dirt Wheels Magazine extensively tested the 2020 RZR Pro XP and came away thoroughly impressed :
On Power Delivery:
“We love the power delivery of the well-tuned ProStar turbo-inducted engine. It is tuned to work best in the 20–50-mph range. When you hit the throttle you know it because things get blurry” .
On Suspension:
“The suspension is supple and surprised us with how well it worked through chop and hard hits for being a 64-inch wide offering. The 72-inch wide Turbo S and the Pro XP feel similar in control and suspension feel” .
On Handling:
“Across whoops, over jumps, through rocks and threading sand washes, cornering, and general stability are impressive. The low center of gravity and lower seating let us feel comfortable during hard cornering” .
On Cockpit:
“The cockpit of the RZR XP Pro line is immersive and gives the driver a more connected feel than ever before with a Polaris RZR. The seating position is lower to the ground, the seats are all-new, and the harness system is more comfortable than previous versions”.
